I first came to Victoria Road Dental Practice on work experience from school, instantly I found
dentistry is very interesting and I enjoyed my week of shadowing all the different team members. A
week or so later I had a phone call from the practice offering me a position of Trainee Dental Nurse to
start in the summer of 2003.
I gained my qualification level 3 in oral health care dental nursing in May 2005. A few years later I
decided to study for my certificate in oral health education qualifying in September 2008, this allows
me to see patients and give oral health instruction and diet advice as prescribed by the Dentist.
In November 2012 I went on to gain another qualification in practice-based prevention and fluoride
varnish application, this allows me to give diet advice, and oral education advice to patients as well as
also applying fluoride varnish to teeth. Victoria Road Dental Practice’s main aim is prevention and I
enjoy passing on advice and knowledge in the hope that a small change in a patient’s lifestyle could
prevent further treatment.
I am the practice infection control lead and coordinate the decontamination room to ensure strict
regimes with regard to cross infection are adhered to at all time by all staff members.
In January 2015 I was appointed as the assistant manager for the practice and then studied and
gained a Diploma in Management in October 2018. I ensure smooth running of the practice day to
day and that current guidelines, regulations and policies are all up to date. These change at a rapid
speed and it is very challenging keeping ahead of the current advice but I love the challenge of
helping to maintain the practices high standards.

I felt like some of my teeth were crooked and starting to overlap. After a free consultation from Dr James I decided to go for Invisalign and I’m thrilled with the results. I couldn’t quite believe the before and after pictures. He did an amazing job and I would highly recommend him. The best of the best when it comes to Invisalign 🙌

So happy with the service I received.I didn’t know what to expect when I first went to the practice regarding ‘wonky’ teeth,I went through a 7 month Invisalign plan and I absolutely love my teeth now.I can’t recommend James and his team enough.

Dr James is amazing.I was so self conscious about smiling. My teeth appeared small & far back especially my top ones & I wanted them whiter.James assured me this was “fixable” & drew up a treatment plan.I had 12 weeks of invisalign & then 6 composite veneers on the top teeth.I feel so confident smiling now, it really has changed the way I feel about myself especially when smiling. I recently got married and It felt so good looking back at photos and seeing my teeth looking so good.I can’t recommend James enough, he is so thorough & tells you exactly what he is going to do, it is literally worth every penny spent & time that goes into making that perfect smile.If you are thinking of having a treatment with James, book that consultation & I guarantee you will be so happy.Trust the process & the end results is so worth it.

What I really cannot fathom is why, if this practice isn’t taking on new privately paying or Denplan patients, it doesn’t say so on its webpage. It wastes everyone’s time.Thank you for the reply – what you say didn’t happen at initial contact: I asked if you were taking on new patients and the reply was simply “No”. I called back, delved a little further and have been put on your waiting list. What my comment is getting at is that you could explain the situation on your website and this would save time. I have called several practices today and all were far, far more helpful at initial contact than you were.

Thankyou to Dr James and his team, who I have completed my Invisalign journey through. I have now got my dream smile and I couldn’t be more pleased.The process was so easy and stress free! With Dr James and his team informative and always accessible if you needed support with the process or had any worries or queries. I couldn’t believe how quickly my teeth began to move, with family and friends commenting on the difference within a few months of aligners. I have always hated the way my teeth looked and felt they were twisted and ugly.I would change the way I smiled so they wouldn’t stick too much, I would try and hide my teeth when speaking to people and I would look at photos and instantly hate what I saw because all I could see were these ugly teeth. My family and friends would say I had nice teeth, but that isn’t what I saw in the mirror every day.Then I went to see Dr James, he asked me what I didn’t like about my teeth, so I explained to him that I felt self conscious about the way my teeth looked and that they were crooked. I would love straight white teeth – like most people do. But I resigned myself to the fact that it probably wasn’t an option.Dr James mentioned a treatment called Invisalign which would involve wearing nearly invisible aligners and would only take about 6 months to straighten my teeth. It sounded too good to be true and so simple! I was worried about the pain from wearing the aligners and that it would be obvious that I had braces in, but Dr James reassured me, he showed me what the aligners looked like and how they fitted, and he explained that yes there would be some pain at first but he was just a message away if I needed any help or if I had any concerns. He explained the costing of invisalign and I was surprised, I thought it would be a lot more expensive.It didn’t take me long to decide that I wanted to go ahead with treatment. I booked in to see him and only a couple of weeks later I had my aligners fitted. They felt very strange at first but I soon got used to them, and no one noticed for weeks that I was wearing them. The pain wasn’t as bad as I thought, I could feel pressure and aching in my teeth for a few days initially but nothing like I thought it would be. I could see a difference in my teeth only a couple of weeks after i started my treatment, I couldn’t believe it, I should had done it years ago.I felt completely supported by Dr James, it wasn’t a case of here are your aligners and see you again in a few months, Dr James saw me regularly during my treatment and I contacted him a couple of times on Instagram with some questions and he was more than happy to help and he instantly put me at ease, he even contacted me on Instagram to check in and see how i was getting on.It only took 5 months to complete my treatment and I feel more confident about my smile, speaking to people and I am more than happy to have my photo taken.I feel like Dr James has made such an impact in my life by straightening my teeth. I now have have perfect straight teeth.I would say to anyone like me before treatment that feels self conscious about their smile and would like straight teeth. I would absolutely recommend Dr James, he listens to your concerns and does not push you into anything, he is more than happy to have a chat to you about your options and Invisalign.Invisalign was amazing for me and it can change other peoples lives too.
